DOMENECH: “Markwayne Mullin is a character, and he’s a guy who has an outsized personality. He doesn’t always show it. Sometimes he does on our network, and I appreciate it when he does, certainly. But the interesting thing about him is that even though he will say things that are confrontational — I mean, we all remember the point where he looked like he was about to get into a fight with someone during a hearing a couple of years ago — he actually is someone who bridges the divide in an interesting way on Capitol Hill. He has good relationships on the Democratic side of the aisle, as you just saw. And I think that he’s going to be someone who it’s really hard to oppose for this job. And even if, you know, at the same time you’re going to have people who are celebrating this on the right who, quite frankly, were frustrated with a lot of incompetence that they saw under Kristi Noem. They want to see these policies go forward. They want to see them work. And they don’t want the leadership of DHS to be a distraction. You know, they might talk about a roundhouse kick to the border, but I also think that this is a guy who’s going to impress a lot of people on Capitol Hill and is going to have a smooth road through this nomination.”
