On Thursday, one of our Tactical Narcotics Team Detectives conducted a traffic stop near Palm Beach Boulevard and Marsh Avenue after observing a traffic violation. During a search of the passenger, Jorge Valle Armijo, Detective Lehmann located suspected marijuana and a baggie containing a white substance. When officers attempted to detain Armijo, he pulled away and took off running across Palm Beach Boulevard. Detective Lehmann, and a Fort Myers Police Department officer gave chase. Detective Lehmann quickly caught up and deployed his agency-issued Taser, allowing law enforcement to safely take Armijo into custody. A continued search revealed additional baggies containing a white rock-like substance. During the investigation, detectives determined that Armijo was unlawfully present in the United States. He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail on an ICE detainer.
