Britney Spears was arrested for DUI in Ventura County, California, on 4 March 2026, after police pulled over her swerving black BMW convertible, with her Thousand Oaks home having drawn 14 sheriff calls since January 2024 according to Ventura County Sheriff's Department records reported by OK! Magazine.

Spears has battled public well-being concerns for years, amplified by erratic social media dance videos and her post-conservatorship recovery, though no prior DUI convictions are on record.

The singer, 44, was booked at Ventura County jail around 3am on Thursday and released three hours later under California's cite-and-release policy for misdemeanours.

TheBritney Spears DUI caseitself began shortly before 9.30 p.m. local time on Wednesday 4 March. According to a dispatch recording reported by US media, officers were alerted to a 'black BMW sedan' that was 'swerving in and out of lanes' and 'speeding' in Ventura County.

'Can we send all units down towards this area please,' one officer can be heard saying on the recording, as others confirmed they had located a '2026 black BMW convertible'. A short time later, another voice reports: 'Talking with the driver. Driver is out of the vehicle.'

Police identified that driver as Britney Spears. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and officers also reported finding an unknown substance in the vehicle. That substance is currently being tested and authorities have not said what they believe it to be.

Spears was taken straight to hospital for blood tests, registering a .06 alcohol level, below California's .08 legal limit, but an unknown substance found in the car awaits toxicology results.

From hospital, the singer was transported to a local detention facility. She was booked in at 3.02 a.m. on Thursday, then released roughly three hours later. She reportedly cried throughout booking, per sources cited in the report.

Regarding the 14 calls made from the pop star's Thousand Oaks home since January 2024, two well-being checks came the same day in November 2024, one cancelled; a September 2025 welfare call met the same fate.

The latest, around midnight on 23 October 2025, when a caller reported a trespass in progress at Spears' home. The Sheriff's Department has not publicly detailed what deputies found, if anything, during that late-night visit.
