White Houseeconomic adviser Kevin Hassett said in an interview Friday that the US economy is “really strong” despite losing 92,000 jobs in February.
He told CNBC that observers should “take the average over a few months” when it comes to hiring numbers, adding that the latest figures were within expectations “because immigration has gone down by so much that breakeven employment is probably in the sort of 30 or 40,000 jobs a month range.”
“It’s consistent with everything else we’re seeing, which is that the economy is really strong,” he said.
