On Saturday last week, the US andIsraelauthorities carried out a joint missile atttack on Iran killing its supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Iran has been retaliating leading to disruption in several middle-eastern countries such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.

The Pentagon is accelerating its intelligence build‑up as Washington braces for a long confrontation with Iran alongside Israel, with military planning now expected to extend well into the autumn.

A report cited by Politico says US Central Command has asked for more military intelligence officers to be deployed to its headquarters in Tampa, Florida, to reinforce operations. These additional personnel would support the campaign against Iran for at least 100 days and potentially through September, reflecting expectations that the conflict will last far longer than initially anticipated.

The comment from the US President comes as the US military struck a large Iranian drone‑carrier vessel, leaving it engulfed in flames; US Central Command described the ship as “roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier.”
