Rahul Dravid and Ravichandran Ashwin will once again be part of the same team, as the legendary Indian cricket duo have come together to be part of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), whose first season is set to take place later this year and will have teams based in various cities in Europe. The league is owned by Rules Sports Tech, an Indian company, with Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan being a part-owner.

Dravid and Ashwin are part of an Indian consortium, which has agreed to buy one of the six franchises. The former Indian cricketers will own the Glasgow-based franchise, which is in Scotland. The league was launched in January 2026, and the first season will be played later this year.

Previously, the league had confirmed owners of three teams. A team based in Amsterdam (Amsterdam Flames), which is owned by Australia's 1999 World Cup-winning captain Steve Waugh alongside Jamie Dyer and Tim Thomas. The Edinburgh-based team (Edinburgh Castle Rockers) is owned by ex-New Zealand captains Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills. Meanwhile, the Irish Wolves, who are based in Belfast, are owned by Australian cricket star Glenn Maxwell alongside businessman Rohan Lund.

Meanwhile, the same report also states that the Rotterdam-based side has been purchased by former South African cricketers Jonty Rhodes, Heinrich Klaasen, and Faf du Plessis.

The published information also states that Ashwin could also play for the Glasgow team in the league. While the 39-year-old retired from international cricket in 2024 and the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025, he has signaled an intent to play franchise cricket in other countries.

Last year, he had signed a deal with the Sydney Thunder for the Big Bash League (BBL), but a knee injury meant he could not play. He had also entered his name for the ILT20 auction.

This will not be the first time Dravid will have a professional role in Scotland. The Indian cricket legend has played for the country's national team. This happened in the 2003 season, where he played for them in the 2003 National Cricket League as an overseas player. Dravid played 11 games and made 600 runs.

Dravid and Ashwin have shared a close relationship for a number of years. When Ashwin made his debut in Test cricket for India, Dravid was part of the team. Later, the off-spinner was a key part of the national team during the ex-Indian captain's tenure as the team's head coach.
