A man was arrested after deputies said he posed as a buyer and stole a laptop from a couple at a Wawa in Hillsborough County on Tuesday. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to the Wawa at 16620 US Highway 301 in Wimauma for a reported theft. Investigators said they learned that a couple had met a man they believed was interested in buying their laptop. When the couple handed it over, surveillance video captured him taking the laptop and running away. While searching for the suspect, deputies said they found the sliding glass door of a townhome open, went inside and found the hoodie the suspect was seen wearing during the theft. Deputies said they set up a perimeter and the Aviation Unit spotted the suspect walking on Nebula Court. The suspect, who was identified as 23-year-old Jeremiah Carson Jr., was arrested and charged with grand theft, resisting officers without violence and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling.
