The cause of death of ateen backpacker, who was found deadand surrounded by apack of dingoes, has been revealed.
Piper James, 19, from Canada was found dead on Monday, January 19 onK'gari Island in Queensland, Australia.
Piper was discovered dead surrounded by the pack on a beach near a campsite where she was staying. Eight out of the 10 dingoes found near Piper have been euthanised.
An inquest into her death has ruled the official cause to be drowning after a dingo attack.

A spokesperson for the Coroners Court of Queensland said Piper died "as a result of drowning in the setting of multiple injuries, due to, or as a consequence of a dingo attack."
No further information could be provided as an investigation into Piper’s death is ongoing.
The state’s Department of Environment, Tourism, Science, and Innovation (DETSI) warns about knowing how to be dingo-safe on K’gari.
"Dingoes are pack hunters. They are apex predators in the island’s ecosystem and need to be treated with respect and safety in mind"
