He criticizes the implementation of immigration enforcement, arguing that the administration prioritized highly visible arrests and political messaging rather than strategically targeting dangerous criminals and people with terrorist connections.
The discussion also raises concerns about masked immigration officers, detention facilities, government power, and the possibility that systems created for immigration enforcement could eventually be turned against domestic political dissent. On incarceration, Kent agrees that the War on Drugs has been a major failure and says America’s high imprisonment rate and potential conflicts of interest surrounding private prisons and the broader justice system deserve serious examination.
