Evan Barker, a former Democratic operative who raised tens of millions for progressive candidates, joins Jimmy to discuss her new book, “Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative,” in which she details how the party was "hijacked by out-of-touch activists, coastal elitists, and powerful special interests.” She confesses to discriminatory hiring practices—excluding white men from interviews under social pressure—and describes leaving the 2024 DNC in disgust when Oprah Winfrey urged attendees to feel "joy," which she saw as disconnected from working-class struggles.
Barker argues the party abandoned its working-class base for identity politics and donor interests, which ultimately led her to vote for Trump in 2024. She now believes "realignment" has occurred, with Democrats treating white working-class voters—along with Latino and Black working-class voters who share similar values—as expendable.
