Forced into cultural exile, Pickles retreats to a deteriorating trailer with his wife Rachel, where resentment becomes their principal source of entertainment. Rachel, consumed by a focused hatred of Candace Owens, transforms every disappointment into evidence of Candace’s supposed malevolence. Her fixation becomes the organizing principle of the Wilson home, providing purpose, grievance and a convenient explanation for every professional failure. Part The Beverly Hillbillies, part The Manson Family, the series follows two people attempting to preserve an illusion of intellectual and moral superiority while everything around them advertises decline. Their trailer becomes a laboratory of online radicalization, class anxiety and performative outrage. Pickles plots his comeback between beers and cigarettes while Rachel patrols social media, searching for new offenses, enemies and fragments of validation. The comedy arises from the Wilsons’ complete inability to recognize how they appear to everyone else. The horror comes from realizing that their behavior is not entirely unusual.
