Hayden Panettiere, the actress known for Heroes, Nashville, Scream 4, Scream VI and Remember the Titans, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina.
Greenville Police say officers and EMS responded around 1:50 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman. Medical assistance was provided, but Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say their preliminary investigation has found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances, while the Greenville Police Department and Greenville County Coroner's Office continue investigating. An official cause of death has not yet been announced.
Reports also say Panettiere flew out of Los Angeles one day before her death with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson.
