Follow LIONEL on X: https://x.com/LionelMedia Picklesgate will not abate. If anything, it is getting worse for Andrew “Pickles” Wilson. The man who arrived carrying the reputation of an internet master debater has now become an internet punch line, a meme factory and a cautionary tale about what happens when online mythology collides with a live opponent who refuses to be intimidated. The clips keep circulating. The facial expressions keep getting frozen into memes. The awkward moments are being replayed, remixed and dissected across social media. What was supposed to be Wilson’s grand demonstration of intellectual dominance instead became a digital archive of overconfidence meeting resistance. He wanted the spotlight. He got it. Unfortunately for Pickles, the spotlight has stayed on long after the debate ended, and it is not making him look any better. Meanwhile Candace Owens appears to be surging. Her supporters are energized, her critics are furious and the debate has only intensified interest in everything she has been saying. That may be the most devastating result of all for the people who expected Wilson to stop her momentum. Instead of neutralizing Candace, the confrontation gave her another platform and another viral moment. Pickles was supposed to puncture the mystique. Instead he may have strengthened it. Now the internet has done what the internet always does: turned defeat into entertainment. The memes are multiplying, the jokes are getting sharper and “Pickles” is rapidly becoming less a debating persona than a cultural punch line. The irony is magnificent. Wilson entered expecting to expose Candace Owens. Instead the debate exposed the limits of his own legend. Candace walks away bigger, louder and more talked about than before, while Picklesgate continues to grow, mutate and refuse to die. At this point the debate may be over, but the humiliation has acquired a life of its own. ▶ SUBSCRIBE to the LIONEL NATION Newsletter. https://bit.ly/4ouBt68
