The Candace Owens haters are officially in full freefall freak mode. The debate they spent weeks predicting would expose Candace instead produced the exact opposite result, and now the retreat has begun. Suddenly, people who were cheering Andrew “Pickles” Wilson forward are pretending they barely knew the man. The distancing is becoming almost comical. Yesterday he was the fearless master debater who was finally going to put Candace in her place. Today his former admirers are examining the ceiling, checking their phones and quietly deleting evidence that they ever boarded the Pickles Express. Nothing evaporates faster than loyalty after a public humiliation.
And now the criticism is spreading beyond Pickles himself to the people surrounding him, including his wife, who had been presented by supporters as part strategist, part handler and part indispensable member of Team Wilson. The problem is that once a supposedly unbeatable operation gets flattened in public, everybody begins searching for somebody else to blame. Was Pickles poorly prepared? Was he badly advised? Did his team convince him that aggressive debate tactics would somehow work against somebody who refused to become rattled? Whatever happened, the same crowd that spent weeks insisting Candace was walking into a trap is now explaining why the trap failed.
That is what makes the aftermath more entertaining than the debate itself. Candace did not merely survive. She forced an entire anti-Candace ecosystem to reassess its assumptions in real time. The bravado disappeared. The victory laps were canceled. The excuses arrived before the body was cold.
And perhaps the greatest indignity of all is watching Pickles discover that many of the people who encouraged him into the ring apparently had no intention of remaining there with him after the bell.
Candace walked away stronger.
Pickles walked away looking for friends.
