Draymond Greencame under scrutiny recently forSteph Curry’s stoic reaction to his words for the Warriors’ bench in their loss over the weekend to the Lakers.
Green, in his latest podcast episode, said the seemingly icy interaction meant “nothing.” Some fans’ reactions, on the other hand, “I found quite amusing and funny,” Green said.
“I love how everyone tries to project their energy about me onto Steph. When quite honestly their energy doesn’t f—ing matter when it comes to me,” Green continued. “So I really enjoy seeing all the takes online and everybody like, ‘Oh, man, he’s so sick of Draymond. I’m sick of Draymond.’ When the reality is you being sick of me, you can either not watch, or you can shut the hell up.”
An emotionless Curry was shown on video giving Green a blank stare while his impassioned teammate waved his arms and yelled at the bench during a timeout in the 129-101 loss. Without Curry for a 10th consecutive game,Golden Statefell behind by as many 34 points and trailed by double digits the entire second half.
While Green addressed the incident on his own podcast, the typically talkative defensive stalwart hasn’t taken questions from reporters since Feb. 7, after a road loss to the Lakers. He has been the Warriors’ worst player by plus-minus in three of their past four games, posting figures of minus-28, minus-30 and minus-18.
The video, shot from the stands, made the rounds afterward. Green saw it, too.
“Quite honestly, what I saw in the video and what I take away from the video, being that I talk to Steph every day, was that he was in agreeance with what I said,” Green said. “We were getting our ass kicked, so you’re not going to be sitting there smiling or enthused.”
