NEARLY five years after Britney Spears won back her freedom from a court-ordered conservatorship, a new DUI arrest has raised legal questions about her future.
A high-profileLos Angelesattorney has spoken exclusively to The U.S. Sun to explain whether the pop icon could be forced back under a conservatorship following herrecent DUI arrestin Ventura County,California.
The singer’s legal freedom was fully restored in November 2021 after nearly 14 years under court supervision, and experts say a single DUI would not meet the legal threshold required to place her back under such strict control.
“The conservatorship governing Spears’ life and finances was fully terminated in November 2021,” the LA-based attorney told The U.S. Sun.
“Once the conservatorship ended, Spears regained full legal autonomy.”
According to the attorney, a DUI arrest on its own would not justify reinstating the sweeping legal arrangement that previously governedBritney Spears‘ personal and financial decisions.
