President Donald Trump spoke at a police academy in Nassau Country on Friday highlighting a historic reduction in violent crime nationwide since his second term in office. FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Todd Blanche joined the president in the release of the FBI’s 2205 Crime Statistics Report. As the midterms approach, Trump tied crime to a larger theme, warning people on the consequences of communism. Luigi Mangione, the man accused of the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024, pled guilty to two federal stalking charges. Mangione faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and will remain in federal custody pending his sentencing, which is set for Dec. 18.
