A Richmond County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and fired after investigators accused her of illegal street-gang activity, conspiring to obtain narcotics, and violating her oath of office.
Deputy Diana Santiago had previously been disciplined over a relationship with an inmate allegedly connected to the LOE—or “Loyalty Over Everything”—gang. Authorities now allege that she became romantically involved with another suspected member of the same gang, accessed law-enforcement databases for him, and warned him about a prescription-drug investigation.
We examine the timeline, the recorded jail calls, the previous internal-affairs investigation, and the evidence authorities say led to Santiago’s arrest.
These remain allegations. Santiago and the other defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
