TV personality Jill Zarin has been removed from E!'s upcomingReal Housewives of New York Citydocu-series,The Golden Life, following widespread criticism over her comments about Bad Bunny's 2026Super Bowlhalftime show. Blink49 Studios, the production company behind the series, confirmed that Zarin will no longer appear alongside RHONY original cast members Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon and Sonja Morgan.
The news comes just days after Zarin attracted backlash for her remarks on the Puerto Rican singer's halftime performance, which she described as inappropriate and criticised for being in Spanish. Fans and industry observers quickly condemned the comments, prompting swift action from the production team.
Zarin made the remarks in a now-deletedInstagramvideo posted on Super Bowl Sunday. In the video, she referred to Bad Bunny's performance as 'the worst halftime show ever'. She criticised the language of the performance, saying, 'It's 250 years that we're celebrating right now in the United States, and I just don't think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish.'
Zarin also commented on the singer's stage movements, claiming, 'He grabs himself every five seconds. Is he so insecure?' She further described the performance as 'looking like a political statement' and added it was 'very sad' that the NFL had 'sold out.'
Her remarks quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism and calls for accountability. Many fans highlighted the comments as racially insensitive and dismissive of Latin culture.
In response to the controversy,Blink49 Studios released a statement to Peoplesaying, 'In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.'
The statement reaffirmed the production company's commitment to inclusivity and sensitivity, signalling that the series would continue without Zarin. Filming is scheduled to begin in Palm Beach,Florida, featuring the remaining RHONY cast members as they navigate social events, family milestones and career pursuits.
Zarin Fabrics, formerly owned by Zarin's late husband, Bobby, alsoreleased a statementcondemning her remarks. The company emphasised that Zarin has not been associated with the business for several years and clarified that the views expressed were her own.
