A woman’s body was discovered covered in dog bites at aLos Angeles homeless encampment.

Police made the grim discovery after a receiving a call from a resident of thesouth LA encampmentlate Wednesday night.

Officers from Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene on the 1100 block of West 87th Street around 11:40 p.m.

LASD Homicide Lt. Steven De Jong toldFox 11it wasn’t clear whether the unidentified woman was bitten before or after she died.

The LA County Medical Examiner, which will determine the cause of death, said the woman was in her 30s.

Officers were seen putting up police tape at the scene, while authorities with animal control and the LA County Fire Department were also present.

A brown puppy was seen was later spotted being carried away from the scene by an officer.

In January, former NFL player Kevin Johnson wasfound murdered in a south LA encampmentnear Compton Creek, possibly the victim of a serial killer who murdered three others in the same camp, police said.
