Kristi Noem released a statement after President Trump fired her as DHS Chief and announced Senator Markwayne Mullin as her replacement.
NBC Newsreportedearlier Thursday morning that Trump was not happy with Kristi Noem’s performance during the Congressional hearings.
The outlet reported that Trump was unhappy with Noem about her decision to approve ad campaigns.
President Trump on Thursday afternoonfiredKristi Noem as DHS Chief and immediately announced her replacement.
Senator Markwayne Mullin (OK) will become the next Secretary of Homeland Security effective March 31.
Markwayne Mullin will have to be confirmed by the Senate.
President Trump reassigned Noem.
“The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well, and has had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!), will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida,” Trump said.
Noem praised President Trump and said she is looking forward to her new position as Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas.
Thank you POTUS Trump for appointing me as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
