The Miami-Dade Republican Party is facing a major embarrassment after leaked messages from a conservative group chat revealed Miami GOP Secretary Abel Alexander Carvajal participating in conversations filled with racial slurs and antisemitic content.
Miami-Dade County Republican Party Chairman Kevin Cooper didn't mince words, declaring that "anyone associated with this chat should resign immediately." Republican state Rep. Juan Porras also joined the chorus calling for Carvajal's immediate resignation from his party position.
The Washington Examiner broke the story, with social media quickly amplifying the scandal.@dcexaminer tweeted: "Florida Republican leaders are calling on Miami GOP Secretary Abel Alexander Carvajal to resign after revelations that he was involved in a conservative group chat filled with racial slurs, among other offensive content."
This scandal comes at a critical time for the Republican Party, which has been working to build broader coalitions under President Trump's second-term leadership. The last thing Republicans need is ammunition for Democrats and the legacy media to paint the entire party with a broad brush.
