Azerbaijan has announced it "reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory measures" after theNakhchivan Airport was struck by an Iranian drone. Harrowing footage emerging on Thursday morning shows the airport in the Azeri exclave, which borders Iran, being struck, with further footage showing heavy damage at the terminal's roof.

Azerbaijanhas also accused Iran of firing another drone, this time near a school. Condeming the attack, the Azeri Foreign Ministry has claimed two civilian were injured, and said it has summoned the Iranian ambassador to issue a strong protest.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks, claiming they came from Iran, but so far there has been no immediate comment from Tehran.

Azerbaijan is demanding an explanation from Iran, and said Azerbaijan reserved the right to take “appropriate response measures”.

Al Jazeera’s Resul Serdar said “Iran has long been accusing the Azeri government of turning Azerbaijan into an Israeli spy base”.
