The Israeli Air Force has released the video of its F-35 stealth fighter jet shooting down a piloted Iranian Air Force YAK-130 fighter over Tehran on Wednesday.

Posted on the Israeli Air Force’s X account, the clip featured the ‘Adir’ jet making its first air-to-air combat kill of a manned aircraft.

“I executed, the target was hit, we will continue the attack," the pilot was heard saying in the video.

This was the first time in nearly 40 years that the Israeli Air Force engaged in an air-to-air combat with a piloted aircraft.

Sirens sounded in Israel as Iran directed a new wave of missiles towards the country, marking a fresh escalation in the region. The Israeli military said it identified a fresh round of missiles launched from Iran on Thursday.

“A short while ago, the IDF (military) identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat," said the military, AFP reported.

West Asia was engulfed in a renewed confrontation after Israel and the United States launched coordinated strikes on Iran amid stalled negotiations over the country’s nuclear programme.

In retaliation, Iran directed attacks towards the Gulf nations, describing them as “legitimate targets", deepening the crisis and drawingWest Asiainto a fresh phase of military escalation.
