August 8th, 2026 - Manhattan, NY: At approximately 2:00 a.m., firefighters responded to Penn Station for a NJ Transit train carrying approximately 700 passengers, a large number of whom may have been returning from a joint Chris Brown and Usher concert at MetLife Stadium after it became stuck in the tunnel under the Hudson River. A passenger and concert goer who spoke after a rescue diesel pulled their disabled train from the tunnel and into Penn Station stated there was a smell of something burning in the air just before the train ceased all movement and then the power went out leaving everyone to swelter in the high humid heat for upwards to nearly two hours.
There was a plan to possibly have all the passengers disembark the train and walk to the station along the tracks but this plan was scraped when it became clear it would be to complicated with the packed train. No injuries were reported, the train was pulled into the station at approximately 3:00 a.m.
