Like so many other orgs that have been commandeered by activists hostile to the original vision and intent, the Scouts took a hard left turn back in the Obama years. Hegseth, got them to change their tune.
If all hell hadn’t broken loose in Iran over the weekend, ClashDaily was going to run a video in which Hegseth touts the good news of a productive conversation he had with the top brass of Scouting America (previously Boy Scouts of America, or BSA).
There has been a long and productive relationship between the Scouting America and the US military. The activism, such as the DEI, it had embraced in recent years put it at odds with US law, and threatened a breech in that relationship they had with Uncle Sam. Hegseth called a meeting to explain the decision that lay before scout leaders, and they chose to comply with US law and lay aside the leftwing political activism that had permeated the organization.
In this 6 min video, Hegseth explains the great historical contributions of Boy Scouts — including several presidents and almost everyone who set foot on the moon — what went wrong, and what remedies are being put in place to fix it.
The Department of War has officially put Scouting America on notice.

The short version? He listed several of changes they agreed to make (at the 3:19 timestamp on the video):
1. Scouting America has agreed to comply immediately with the provisions ofExecutive Order 14173[ie: banning any discrimination, including those in various DEI policies]2. The ‘Citizen In Society’ merit badge that encourages scouts to explore DEI and engage in related activism is now discontinued.3. Membership is to be based solely on biological sex at birth, rather than gender identity, and intimate spaces like bathrooms and tents will not be shared by people of the opposite sex.4. They will honor those who serve by waiving the dues of the children of active-duty service men and women.5. In cooperation with the War Department, a new military service merit badge will be offered. The War Department’s commitment to continuing its relationship with Scouting America will be contingent upon the degree to which they uphold these and other pledges of reform, progress will be reviewed in 6 months.
2. The ‘Citizen In Society’ merit badge that encourages scouts to explore DEI and engage in related activism is now discontinued.
