DEI Police Commissioner Charged In Gang Related Courthouse Drive-By Shooting
Jennifer Lackard, a Mount Vernon Deputy Police Commissioner, is now facing attempted murder charges after prosecutors accused her of helping her son in an alleged gang-related drive-by shooting outside a Bronx courthouse.
Lackard was appointed during the George Floyd protest era and worked in police reform, wellness, and community outreach despite having no prior law-enforcement experience, according to the reporting discussed in this video.
Prosecutors allege her son Chase circled the courthouse with his parents before putting on a mask and firing multiple shots toward a group that included an alleged rival gang member. Investigators also point to surveillance footage and text messages discussing where the vehicle needed to be positioned and saying the timing had to be “right.”
Nobody was hit. Jennifer Lackard was fired by Mount Vernon and pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, conspiracy, weapons charges, and other offenses. Chase also pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail.
