New Delhi:Nitish Kumar confirmed his bid for the Rajya Sabha on Thursday in an emotional message to Bihar voters ahead of filing his nomination. Filing of nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls will close today. As Nitish Kumar heads to Rajya Sabha just four months after taking charge as the Bihar CM for a record 10th term, speculations have begun floating as to who will succeed him.
“For more than two decades, you have consistently placed your trust and support in me, and it is on the strength of that trust that we have served Bihar and all of you with complete dedication,” said in a post in Hindi on X.

Reflecting on his political journey, the JD(U) chief said he had long aspired to serve in every legislative forum.
“From the very beginning of my parliamentary journey, I have harboured a desire to become a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament. In keeping with that aspiration, I seek to become a Member of the Rajya Sabha in the elections taking place this time,” he said.
The veteran politician also sought to reassure supporters that his move would not weaken his commitment to the state.
“I wish to assure you with complete honesty that my bond with you will endure in the future as well, and my resolve to work alongside you to build a developed Bihar will remain steadfast,” he said, adding that the new government formed in the state would have his “full cooperation and guidance.”
Could Nitish Kumar’s Son Enter Politics?
Speculation is growing that Nishant Kumar, the son of Nitish Kumar, may soon enter politics.
On Tuesday, Shrawon Kumar told Press Trust of India (PTI) that an announcement on the matter could come soon.
