PresidentDonald Trumpduring a marathonState of the Union- lasted for a record 108 minutes - declared that America is winning so much, insisting he'd sparked an economic boom at home and imposed a new world order abroad in hopes it can counter his sliding approval ratings. Trump's main objective was convincing increasingly wary Americans that the economy is stronger than many believe, and that they should vote for more of the same by backing Republicans during November’s midterm elections.
In all,Trump spoke for a record 108 minutes, breaking -- by eight minutes -- the previous time mark from his address before a joint session of Congress last year. The president largely avoided his usual bombast, only occasionally veering off-script — mostly to slam Democrats.
“Our country is winning again. In fact, we’re winning so much that we really don’t know what to do about it. People are asking me, 'Please, please, please, Mister President, we’re winning too much. We can’t take it anymore,'" Trump said before introducing the team.
During his State of the Union address, the US President made several claims that most Americans were working in the country today, record investments are coming among or stopping multiple wars among others but many of his claims are now being fact checked.
In his Union address, Donald Trump claimed that more than 158 million people were employed in the United States, highest in the history. Though, Trump's claim is correct, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), it is also a fact that the population in the country was also at its highest at 342 million people.
Also, the percentage of people as old as 16 or older was 59.8 per cent, less than 60.1% in January 2025 when Biden left the office.
Also on the unemployment front, the rate is slightly higher under Trump administration as it is up from 4.1% in December 2024 to 4.3% in January 2026.
In his address, Trump claimed that in 12 months, he secured commitments for more than $18 trillion of investments pouring in from all over the globe, however, there is no publicly available evidence to support that the US indeed received this much worth of investments.
According to the White House website that tracks new investments in the United States, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure, $9.7tn (£7.2tn) is the total worth of investments that the US actually received after Trump returned to the White House. However, this is still much less than what the President claimed.
Donald Trump time and again has claimed of settling as many as eight wars including India-Pakistan 2025 conflict, which New Delhi has rejected as many times. He also claims to end Israel-Iran but tensions never really came down and now the United States is itself prepping up to launch one against Tehran.
