A prominent psychotherapist has laid out his concerns forDonald Trump’s mental state, suggesting that theUS President could have dementia. Dr. John Gartner, who has practiced inBaltimorefor 35 years, believes that Trump is demonstrating at least two tell-tale signs common in those suffering from the disease.

After previously saying publicly that “there is absolutely no doubt” that Trump has dementia, the clinician has expanded further by highlighting the symptoms he believesTrump is demonstrating. Speaking in a podcast appearance with MindSite News, Dr Gartner said: “When we’re diagnosing dementia, what we need to see is a deterioration of someone’s own baseline of functioning. What we see that a lot of people don’t appreciate is that whenDonald Trumpwas younger in the 1980s, he was actually quite articulate.

“He spoke in polished paragraphs; now he has difficulty even finishing a sentence.”

Dr Gartner believes that the decline in Trump’s public speaking capability, is the first symptom that could indicate he is suffering from the illness.

He said: “He is losing his capacity for coherent speech. We’ve collected dozens and dozens of Trump’s phonemic paraphrasias, in which you use sounds in place of an actual word (a hallmark of brain damage and dementia).

“What happens is that someone is trying to say a word and then they get the first part out but they have to end it or create one because they can’t remember the rest.

“Trump will say something like ‘mishiz’ for missiles, or “Chrishus” for Christmas, because he can’t complete the word.”

The President gave the first State of the Union address of his second term last night where he spoke for 108 minutes, the longest address in history, half an hour longer than his last speech.
