Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson has warned Midterms humiliation could spark the "end of the Trump presidency."

He warned: "If we lost the midterms -- heaven forbid, if we lost the majority in the House -- it would be the end of the Trump presidency in a real effect."

Speaking on Newsmax, he added that Trump needs a full term to “fix the mess” he claimed he had inherited from former PresidentJoe Biden, adding: “So we’ve got to keep this going.”

Mr Johnson also hailed Trump's long State of the Union address and described Democrats who criticised the President as "shameful."

His "end of presidency" warning comes as Trump continues to slump in the polls, and talk of the 25th Amendment being invoked continues to gain momentum.

A number of Democrats called for the Amendment to be invoked to remove Trump from office last month.
