Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the Palestine issue at Israel’s Knesset and said the Trump administration-led Gaza Peace Initiative is a just and durable solution for the people of the region.
Modi, who is on a two-day state visit to Israel – his second to the country – said he is the first Indian prime minister toaddress the Knesset, which is the Israeli parliament.
“Gaza Peace Initiative holds the promise of a just and durable peace for all the people of the region, including by addressing the Palestine issue. The road to peace is not always easy but India joins you and the world for dialogue, peace and stability in this region," Modi said during his speech.

He said the Gaza Peace Initiative has been endorsed by the UN Security Council and offers a pathway, with India expressing its firm support for the initiative.Referring to the West Asia turmoil, he spoke about regional peace and promised that India stands by Israel during this difficult time.
“Some years ago, when you concluded the Abraham Accords, we applauded your courage and vision. It was a moment of new hope for our long-troubled region. Since then, however, the situation has changed significantly and path is more challenging," he said.
The Prime Minister received a standing ovation as he began his address at the Knesset. He was conferred “Speaker of the Knesset Medal", and is the first to receive this “highest honour". The medal is in recognition of his exceptional contribution – through his personal leadership – to strengthen strategic relations between India and Israel.

As of February, the primary “Gaza Peace Initiative" refers to the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, a 20-point roadmap introduced by US President Donald Trump in October 2025.
It is currently in Phase II, having transitioned from an initial ceasefire period following the recovery of the final Israeli hostage remains earlier this year. The initiative is notable for its “business-first" approach to reconstruction and its use of a unique, non-United Nations oversight body.
