American police officers were forced to retreat from their own citizens in Washington Square Park this week after being brutally pelted with ice-packed snowballs—and New York City's radical leftist mayor responded with a joke.
The footage is difficult to watch. NYPD officers—women included—standing in blizzard conditions doing their jobs when a mob began launching frozen projectiles directly at their faces and heads. Cowards ran up behind officers and smashed chunks of ice into the backs of their skulls. Bystanders cheered. Others filmed and laughed. The officers did nothing. They said nothing. And then they retreated.
Let that sink in, Patriots. American law enforcement forced to flee from the very citizens they swore to protect.
Nearly twenty-four hours after the attack, Mayor Zohran Mamdani finally crawled out of hiding to issue what can only be described as a disgrace wrapped in a punchline. His official statement referred to the attackers as "kids throwing snowballs" and then quipped that "if anyone's catching a snowball, it's me."
That was it. No condemnation. No arrests announced. No show of support for the officers who were injured during the ambush.
The Republican delegation on the New York City Council fired off a formal letter demanding answers, calling the incident an ambush and expressing outrage at the deafening silence from city leadership. Multiple officers sustained injuries. And for what? The starting salary for NYPD is roughly $60,000 a year in one of the most expensive cities on earth.
