Tuesday’s primaries in Michigan are shaping up to be one of the most closely-watched races. Abdul El-Sayed is up again Representative Haley Stevens, which many see as an ideological race between the moderate left and the Democratic socialists. An Emerson College poll published last week shows El-Sayed leading Stevens. But Stevens leads among voters over 60 years old. Whoever wins the Democratic primary will be up against GOP presumptive nominee Mike Rogers, who says he is ready to take El Sayed head on.
President Trump warning Iran it’s their last chance to sign a deal with the U.S., after calling off massive strikes over the weekend. The President saying negotiations are ongoing and slammed Iranian leadership for the gap between their private and public claims, after they openly alleged no talks are underway. Trump’s top priorities amid these talks, is that Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon and the welfare of the Iranian people.
The Senate has taken the first major step toward avoiding another government shutdown later this year. The chamber voted 89-4 to advance a bipartisan stopgap funding bill that would keep the federal government funded through December 11th. Senate leaders from both parties say the measure will give lawmakers more time to negotiate full-year spending bills while avoiding another funding lapse.
