Brazilian presidential hopeful Aldo Rebelo has made waves by claiming insider knowledge of US government UFO files, promising full disclosure to the Brazilian public if he wins the presidency.

Rebelotoldreporters, 'As a former Minister of Defence, I am provoked to speak on the subject. I know what the Armed Forces have in their archives. What I can say is that if the US government releases its documents, I will do the same if elected president of Brazil.' He emphasised that governments have long held secrets about advanced technology, noting that knowledge of extraterrestrial phenomena stretches back decades, even before the Second World War.

The politician suggested that international cooperation has occasionally aligned nations' approaches to alien encounters, though he clarified that most government secrecy concerns advanced terrestrial technology rather than confirmed alien contact.

Rebelo's comments have drawn attention both within Brazil and abroad, raising questions about how much information governments possess and how far officials might go to keep it confidential.

President Donald Trump, announced that his administration would begin the process of identifying and releasing documents related to UFOs, UAPs, and extraterrestrial life. Trump's statements followed years of congressional hearings on unidentified aerial phenomena, which produced numerous blurry videos and eyewitness claims but limited concrete evidence.

Astrobiologists and analysts have stressed that true disclosure would require scientifically verifiable material, not just anecdotal accounts or low-resolution footage. As one expert explained, 'Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence.' While more than 90 per cent of sightings have conventional explanations, the small fraction of genuinely unexplained incidents continues to fuel speculation. Former officials' dramatic claims about alien spacecraft or biological specimens, often based on hearsay, have not yet provided verifiable proof.

Rebelo's promise to disclose files, therefore, taps into a growing public desire for transparency and hard evidence, rather than the repeated conjecture and sensationalism that dominate UFO discussions online.

While Rebelo's comments focus on government archives, recent UFO sightings in the United States have maintained public interest. In November 2024, residents of New Jersey and other East Coast states reported unidentified drones flying at night.

Local officials were unable to identify the craft, leading to widespread speculation about alien activity.

Trump has said that thegovernment'knows what is happening'but has been reluctant to share details. Former President Barack Obama joked that aliens are 'real' but clarified there was no evidence of contact during his administration. Such statements underscore the tension between curiosity and official caution.
