El Paso, TX - The El Paso Police Department wants to remind people to avoid distractions while driving, sharing dramatic bodycam video where a distracted driver narrowly missed running over an officer during a traffic stop. On Friday, EPPD took to social media to share the video of the close call, describing that the motorcycle officer had just pulled over a driver when a distracted driver slammed into the back of the stopped car-- pushing the car about 500 feet forward down the shoulder and miraculously missing the officer. According to the post, the crash happened on I-10 on July 25. And while the officer, as well as the driver of the stopped car, suffered injuries, EPPD said they were non-life-threatening.
