Fitness expert Bhavna Harchandani has slammed celebrity trainers, calling them out for making actors do “bizarre” training that can be dangerous. “Some celebrity fitness trainers are absolute quacks and clowns in the fitness fraternity. While their workouts look fancy on Instagram - ligaments, tendons, and muscles pay the price for poor programming,” Harchandani told her followers on Instagram.

Bhavna said fitness trainers are showcasing gravity-defying lunges, unstable barbell tricks, explosive plyometrics on balance balls, and extreme “challenge” workouts – all of which are being done by top actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Jyotika, and Pooja Hegde. While your muscles may adapt relatively quickly to training stress, tendons and ligaments adapt slowly. When workouts involve rapid, high-intensity, unstable movements without gradual progression, connective tissues become vulnerable. Repetitive stress without recovery increases inflammation, leading to chronic pain or long-term damage.

That viral “challenge” might feel empowering in the moment, but according to Bhavna, the cost can surface weeks later.

According to Bhavna, social media platforms only reward spectacles and dramatic movements that get engagement. This has fueled the rise of “extreme workout challenges” that are not designed for the general population. Many followers attempt these routines without:

While not all celebrity trainers promote unsafe methods, the rise of performance-based, attention-driven workouts has blurred the line between effective training and entertainment. If your goal is strength, energy, and long-term health, focus on smart programming, gradual progression, and proper recovery.
