Prime Minister Narendra Modi left on Wednesday morning for his visit to Israel. He is expected to land around 4 p.m. Indian standard time. This will be his second visit to the country after his landmark 2017 trip.

The visit comes at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel marked his arrival with a special welcome on the front page of The Jerusalem Post.

Editor-in-Chief Zvika Klein shared the front page, which featured a large photograph of PM Modi waving. The page carried several feature stories on his visit and India-Israel ties. One headline read “Welcome, Modi," while another said “New Delhi’s burgeoning partnership with Jerusalem".

The top masthead carried the word “Namaste" alongside Hebrew text. The subheading read, “Two ancient nations open a new chapter." The entire Page 1 focused on India-Israel relations.

PM Modi will deliver a speech at the Knesset, becoming the first Indian prime minister to address the Israeli Parliament.

The edition also carried an interview with India’s envoy to Israel, JP Singh. He said one of the most important elements of the visit would be PM Modi’s address to the Knesset.

Singh said the aim is to broaden and deepen bilateral ties beyond a limited number of sectors to a more comprehensive framework. This would include financial cooperation, trade and cross-border payments, with potential future work on financial systems and money-transfer infrastructure.

I will be undertaking a State Visit to Israel today and tomorrow. Our nations share a robust and multifaceted Strategic Partnership. Ties have significantly strengthened in the last few years. I will be holding talks with PM Netanyahu, in which we will discuss ways to strengthen…— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi)February 25, 2026

Netanyahu described the visit as historic and called PM Modi a “dear friend". He said he had spoken about the upcoming visit at the opening of the Cabinet meeting.
