Pakistan werevirtually knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2026when they were defeated by England by 2 wickets in the crucial Super 8 match of the tournament at the Pallekele International Cricket Ground. Despite the poor performance by the Pakistan players, some players did stand out for the team with their solid showing. One of them was star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi who returned to form vs England after ordinary returns in previous matches of the T20 World Cup 2026. He was firing with the ball, taking four wickets in the game for 30 runs in his four overs.

Out of the four wickets, he picked up three wickets in the powerplay, namely Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell. Afridi now has 60 wickets in the powerplay in T20Is. He is now the bowler with the most wickets powerplays in T20I history. He breaks Tim Southee's tally of 58 wickets in the powerplay in his career.
