Gov. Gavin Newsom was able to gin up plenty of hype about his memoir, “Young Man in a Hurry” — but not enough to top BunnieXO, the celebrity wife of crooner Jelly Roll, on Amazon’s list of bestselling memoirs.
BunnieXO’s memoir, “Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” was released Feb. 17 and topped Amazon’s list of bestselling books Tuesday.
Newsom’s “Young Man in a Hurry” was #45 on Amazon’s bestselling list, behind “Nobody’s Girl” by deceased Epstein Victim Virginia Guiffre, Tim Tebow’s “If the Tree Could Speak,” “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” “Where’s Spot? A Lift the Flap Book” and other popular titles.Newsom’s tome about his childhood, rise in politics andcolorful love lifefared better in the memoir and biography category, where it was #5 as of Tuesday — behind socialite Belle Burden’s marriage memoir “Strangers,” Norah O’Donnell’s “We the Women,” and Guiffre and BunnieXO’s books.
In “Stripped Down,” BunnieXO — who hosts the popular podcast “Dumb Blonde” — details her “modern-day rag-to-riches story” that took her “from the trailer parks of Vegas to the mansions of Nashville,” according to the book description.
Newsom’sheavily promoted memoirwas #1 in political leader biographies.
The California governorhas been on a PR blitzfor his book ahead of an expected White House bid.Newsom has promoted the book in Nashville, Atlanta, and Rock Hill, South Carolina.
He has also promoted the book to his political donors and supporters, this monthoffering free copies in exchangefor donations of “any amount” to his political action committee, Campaign for Democracy.
