A GROUP of American tourists were forced to barricade themselves on a hotel rooftop as cartel violence exploded across Mexico after one of the world’s most wanted drug lords was killed.
Corey Cole, 40, was on day two of her holiday in Puerto Vallarta with friends from Dallas, Wisconsin when their trip turned into a nightmare.
The group had been heading out for breakfast on Sunday when they spotted fires spreading through the resort town and ran back to their hotel.
Staff rushed guests upstairs and ordered them onto the roof, locking the door behind them because it was the safest place to hide.
Corey said she spent hours stranded above the chaos watching destruction unfold before finally being allowed back inside that night.
“We were stuck on the roof all day,” she said.
