Investigative journalist and filmmaker Derrick Broze joins guest host Garland Nixon to discuss how ICE now obtains credit header data—including names, addresses, and contact information from credit bureaus via Thomson Reuters' Clear product without a warrant — this after the Trump administration gutted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that was moving to close this loophole.
The two argue that the immigration panic was manufactured through algorithmic amplification to create public demand for mass deportation, which then normalized a militarized police state with armed federal agents on the streets. They warn that once citizens become accustomed to soldiers and ICE roaming neighborhoods, surveillance expands further—through facial-recognition glasses, credit card tracking, and other integrated data systems—making it nearly impossible to opt out.
They conclude that the solution lies in community organizing and awareness, not voting for savior politicians who will continue expanding the surveillance apparatus.
