Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday claimed that Moscow has intelligence suggesting possible attempts to sabotage major Russian gas pipelines running under the Black Sea, warning that such actions could be aimed at derailing ongoing peace efforts linked to the war in Ukraine.
Speaking at a meeting of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) board, Putin said security agencies had received operational inputs about a potential explosion targeting underwater gas infrastructure.
“Our operational information is being reported. It concerns a possible explosion of our gas systems at the bottom of the Black Sea," he said.

Putin alleged that the suspected plans were intended to undermine US-mediated diplomatic efforts to end the conflict with Ukraine.
“They’re doing everything they can to disrupt the peace process," he said, adding that forces opposed to negotiations were seeking ways to prevent any breakthrough.
The remarks come as negotiations facilitated by the United States continue between Moscow and Kyiv, though progress has remained limited amid disagreements over territory and the terms of a ceasefire.
The pipelines cited by Putin, TurkStream and Blue Stream, are key conduits for transporting Russian natural gas directly to Turkey, bypassing Ukraine, and are critical to Russia’s energy exports.
The Russian president also accused Ukraine of engaging in “individual and mass terror".
