Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude is reportedly facing an outage, with many users reporting login errors and slow responses. The disruption has affected both web and app access. According to Downdetector, the outage is impacting users across the globe, including India, with many reporting downtime and access issues.

According to Downdetector, the main problem is withClaudeChat, which makes up 69 per cent of reports. Around 15 per cent of users are facing issues with the app, while 10 per cent have reported problems with Claude Code. This shows the outage is mostly affecting the chat feature.

As per the outage tracking website, the problems started around 6 pm on Wednesday and have been increasing since then. The company hasn’t made any statement yet. Users are waiting for an official update and it is still unclear what caused the outage or when services will fully return to normal.

Many frustrated Claude users also took to social media to report the issue.

"What's going on. Is it just me, or? Claude been has been down for the last 5 hrs," Claude user posted on Elon Musk-owned social media platform X.

"Claude is down, so now I have to google everything like my ancestors did back in the stone ages," another user posted on the micro-blogging apps.

"Claude Ai is down right ?," an X user posted.

As per Downdetector, users reported issues with the newly released Claude Sonnet 4.6. To compete with ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, Anthropic recently introduced Sonnet 4.6, calling it its most capable Sonnet model so far. The new model focuses on everyday tasks and brings improvements in coding and reasoning. It is now the default model for users on Free and Pro plans. According to the company, Sonnet 4.6 offers upgrades across software development, planning, design and knowledge tasks.
