A 21-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman alleged that they were raped and forced into religiousconversionby a gang of men and women, including two sisters and their brother and lover, according to a Times of India report. The two women filed a police complaint at the Bag Sewania police station on the said charges, saying that they were lured into the trap of the group, which claimed to provide employment.
The accused woman and her gang befriended a woman and a young girl, who were looking for a job. She gained their trust and offered support to them, further promising them jobs. Then, she allegedly brought them to her brother and lover for sexual harassment.
The two women were then forced to convert to Islam, and were forced to read religious books and were pressured to marry Muslim youths, according to a TOI report.
The 30-year-old woman, in her complaint, stated that she is divorced and a mother of two children. She met one of the sisters for the first time in 2024 at Ashima Mall. The accused woman allegedly offered her a babysitting job at her house, with a salary of Rs 10000 a month.
The woman accepted her offer and later began living with the accused and her partner, Chandan, at their home. While staying there, Chandan allegedly mixed an intoxicant in her tea and raped her.
Days later, the accused woman took her to a friend from Jehangirabad and then to Ahmedabad, where her brother Yasir allegedly harassed her. But in February 2025, the survivor managed to escape from the gang.
The accused group members include Razia (name changed); her live-in partner Chandan Yadav, who allegedly converted; her brother Bilal; Yasir; her sister Ayesha (name changed); and another associate.
Razia is the mastermind of the gang and works at a spa centre. According to the report, she was in a relationship with Chandan Yadav.
In a similar incident, a 21-year-old beautician from Chhattisgarh filed a complaint, saying that she met Razia's sister-in-law, Priya (name changed), at a friend's birthday party. At that time, she was unaware that Priya had converted. Later, Priya allegedly met Razia at Ashima Mall after luring her with a better job.
Through Razia, she got acquainted with Chandan, who allegedly forced physical relations with her. Later, Razia's brother Bilal and Yasir allegedly assaulted her in Ahmedabad, TOI reported.
