The Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) official website, upsconline.nic.in, is not responding at the moment. This may be due to a heavy rush of candidates, as the deadline to apply for UPSC CSE 2026 recruitment ends today. This is one of the reasons why the Commission consistently advises candidates to apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute glitches. The Civil Services Examination 2026 will be conducted to fill 933 vacancies across various Central Government departments.

Selection Process:Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the Preliminary Examination, followed by the Main Examination for candidates who qualify for the first stage. Those who clear the Mains are then called for the Personality Test (Interview). After the interview round, shortlisted candidates undergo document verification, and finally, a medical examination is conducted before the final appointment. Candidates are required to qualify at each stage to move forward in the recruitment process.

Age Limit:To be eligible, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. The prescribed age limit is 21 to 32 years, with upper age relaxation applicable to candidates belonging to reserved categories.

What's New in UPSC Civil Services 2026

One of the biggest changes introduced this year is that IAS, IPS, and IFS officers will not be allowed to appear in the Civil Services Examination. Candidates who were appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) or Indian Foreign Service (IFS) through an earlier examination and are serving in those cadres will not be allowed to reappear for UPSC exams. They will not be allowed to appear in any UPSC examination unless they resign from the allocated service. To read more about it,click here.
