Former president and former secretary of state to appear under subpoena in Chappaqua as Oversight probe advances.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are scheduled to provide sworn testimony this week before the U.S. House Oversight Committee as part of a Republican-led investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The depositions are expected to take place in Chappaqua, New York, where the couple resides, according to a spokesperson cited in an NBC News report. Hillary Clinton is slated to appear on Feb. 26, followed by Bill Clinton on Feb. 27.

The sessions mark the first time a former U.S. president has been compelled to testify under subpoena in connection with a congressional inquiry of this nature.

The depositions follow months of negotiations between attorneys representing the Clintons and House Republicans. Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., sought in-person, recorded depositions rather than written responses or sworn declarations.

Hillary Clinton had publicly stated that both she and her husband were willing to testify but preferred to do so in open hearings rather than in closed-door settings. Comer declined that request and proceeded with plans for private depositions.

Earlier this month, the Clintons resisted appearing before the committee, prompting House Republicans to prepare subpoenas and raise the possibility of criminal contempt of Congress proceedings. That standoff eased after the former first couple agreed to comply with the committee’s demands and participate in the scheduled depositions.

The House Oversight Committee’s inquiry is part of a broader Republican effort to examine Epstein’s connections and any potential institutional or political failures related to his activities prior to his 2019 death while in federal custody.
