A man allegedly set his girlfriend's vagina on fire, it has been reported. A 19‑year‑old biotechnology student fromIndiais receiving treatment at a Delhi hospital after allegedly being set on fire by her live‑in partner in the city of Gurugram. Police say the accused, identified as Shivam from Narela in Delhi, poured sanitiser on the young woman's private parts and ignited it. He is also accused offilming the act.
The incident was reported to the police on February 19. The complaint cites multiple sections of India's modern criminal law, including provisions relating to assault, cruelty and sexual offences.

According to the victim's statement, she met Shivam through an online app in September 2025.
Their relationship developed into cohabitation in Gurugram, where she alleges he began abusing her physically and coercing her into sexual relations under the pretext ofmarriage.
The report details that on February 16, Shivam allegedly attacked her with household objects, including an earthen pot and a steel bottle, before attempting to burn her intimate areas.
She further claimed he struck her legs with a knife, threatened permanent injury, and recorded her in the nude.
The victim said she managed to inform her mother on February 18 using the accused's phone.
Her mother contacted police, who took her to a government hospital in Gurugram.
