US President Donald Trump on Monday issued a fresh warning on tariffs, saying countries that attempt to “play games" with a recent US Supreme Court ruling could face “higher trade penalties".
The remarks came after the European Union signalled it would put a key trade agreement with Washington on hold.
In a post on hisTruth Socialplatform, Trump said nations that had “ripped off" the US for years would be met with “much higher tariffs, and worse" than those recently agreed upon.
“BUYER BEWARE!!!" Trump wrote, reacting to the Supreme Court decision that struck down several tariffs imposed during his administration.
The warning came as lawmakers in the European Parliament said on Monday that they would freeze plans to approve a major trade deal with the US until there is greater clarity on how the court ruling affects tariff arrangements.
