Just when you thought Senate Republicans might actually fight for election integrity, sources are revealing that RINO senators are scheming to sink the popular SAVE Act before it can even come up for a vote.
According to reports from The Federalist, establishment Republicans in the Senate don't want to be put on the record supporting the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act – legislation that would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. You know, the common-sense measure that 85% of Americans support regardless of party affiliation.
But apparently, doing what their constituents want is too much to ask from these swamp creatures who are more concerned about their cocktail party invitations than protecting our democracy.
While specific names haven't been leaked yet, we all know the usual suspects who love to stab conservatives in the back when it matters most. These are the same senators who probably think requiring an ID to vote is "voter suppression" while you need an ID to buy groceries or board an airplane.
The SAVE Act should be a slam dunk for any Republican with a functioning spine. It simply requires documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and mandates states remove non-citizens from voter rolls. What could be more basic than ensuring only American citizens vote in American elections?
But for RINOs, even this elementary protection of our electoral system is apparently too "controversial." They'd rather let the status quo continue than risk being called names by the Washington Post editorial board.
These cowardly senators better remember one thing: President Trump didn't win a landslide victory so Republicans could continue playing patty-cake with the establishment. Americans voted for fighters who would secure our elections, not spineless politicians who fold at the first sign of resistance.
Patriots deserve to know which senators are working against election integrity so they can be held accountable in their next primary. Will these RINOs finally do their job, or will they once again betray the voters who sent them to Washington?
